Andrew Breitenberg

Last night was the visiting graphic designer Andrew Breitenberg. It was supposedly mandatory for my graphic design class to go even though i think everyone would have went regardless. It was worth it too. Andrew is a local guy from Virginia Beach who has studied in Holland and currently lives in South Africa.

He kept repeating something last night that i thought was worth repeating here.

Make that thing inside you that is begging to be made.

Faculty Art Show

Did you know there is an ODU faculty art show going on right now? I did, although i have only seen 1 flyer for this event.

The opening reception is Saturday, October 3rd at 7pm. Its at the ODU art gallery a.k.a The Baron and Ellin Gordon Art Gallery. The show will be up until October 18th so go and see it before then. There is a facebook page for the event but i am posting at work and facebook is blocked here. You must find it on your own.

If i remember to bring my camera tomorrow, there will be photos to follow.

I have had an art crush on cyrusthepotter for a couple years now. He sells his work on etsy and it inspires me to be a better ceramic artist for sure! My favorites would have to be the interlocking bottles he makes. Plus the skulls he makes are so cool and creepy.

Ron van der Ende is a sculptor living in the Netherlands. He specializes in wall mounted bas-reliefs constructed from found wood. You should (YOU MUST) check out his website. There is also an archive link that has a ton of stuff. Let’s just all agree now, it’s frickin awesome.
